A couple of months ago I attended TherapyExpo, a professional development event for clinical practitioners. Sitting at the start of a lecture, the coming speaker asked me what my profession was, I duly answered that I was a sports therapist. The speaker told me that he used to be a sports therapist, but had now created his own title of “Injury and Athletic Performance Specialist”. To me there were definite similarities in our roles, we both treated athletes and helped with their development and for me there’s no need to create another job title. Throughout my career as a sports therapist I have worked on , and will continue to work on, my professional development, however I cannot see myself as being anything but a sports therapist. So for me , I am quite happy to be just a sports therapist.
